Following the Russian annexation of Crimea and the subsequent hybrid war in Eastern Ukraine, pro-Russian propaganda intensified to a record-high level in Central and Eastern Europe. Easily digestible pro-Kremlin content built on fake news, disinformation, conspiracy theories, anti-Western sentiment and, sometimes, plain lies is being spread in social media virtually unopposed, often finding its way into mainstream media as well.
